AIESEC, which I found out about thanks to a friend at university, is an abroad project where you go overseas for an internship, to help with global issues, or to promote culture. The project is divided into two tracks. The first part is Global Citizen. This part is for current university students and offers a 5-6 week experience. The other part is Global Talent, which is designed for graduates; here, you go to gain overseas work experience after graduation. The countries you can go to are:

• Countries with the most cultural projects: Ukraine, Serbia, Romania, Brazil, Egypt, Colombia, India, Taiwan, Indonesia.

• Countries with the most projects on global issues: Egypt, Bahrain, Hungary, India, Italy, Russia, China.

• Countries with the most education and development projects: Italy, Ukraine, Brazil, Serbia, Hungary, Poland, Russia, China, Bahrain.

As for the answers to questions like how will you go abroad, what about the flight ticket, how will accommodation be arranged, or what will you eat there:

First of all, you need to have a passport. The cost of this passport is on you. Secondly, if you pass the interview, you apparently need to pay 500 TL to this organization. If you ask why: for example, you go there, and someone welcomes you. Your accommodation is provided for free. The food you eat is free (though in some countries, meals are paid). Since there are also people coming to our country from those countries, we can consider this a normal situation. The most expensive part might be the flight ticket. Round-trip tickets are entirely our responsibility. Additionally, you can go on a trip during the last week of your 5-6 week stay.

Personally, I made my application today. My first goal is to join the team in February, but if that doesn’t work out, it will be to join the team organized for the summer months. During the application, information such as your name, phone, e-mail, the school you are attending, and your department is collected first. After completing this process, the next step is to wait to be contacted for acceptance into the project. Then, from what my friend mentioned, you will be called for an interview. It will be an English interview. You don’t need to have perfect English, but you do need to be able to communicate with people.

After that, once you pay the 500 TL, you will choose the country you are going to, but you need to be quick about this part. There might not be any spots left in the country you want. If you want to apply too, let’s take you here. Stay well. May God bless you…
