I wrote this in 2015 when I was 22 — I’d been recording tutorial videos since 8th grade (2008). Eleven years on, I’m republishing my content-creation origin story with the original preserved, plus a 2026 commentary.

For people asking how I got started — even though I don’t do this professionally — let me share what I lived through.
When I first started, it was purely for fun. I had no plans to upload to YouTube or anything. YouTube wasn’t even popular in Turkey, and certainly not in Turkish.
My very first video tutorial was recorded in 8th grade. Title: “How to Create a Site on Bedava Sitem”. After long searches I couldn’t find that video. Eighth grade is roughly 2006-2007 or maybe 2008 — I’m not sure.
At the time I had a site called senininternetin.tr.gg. Buying a .com or .net domain felt like a fantasy. I got my first PC around 4th or 5th grade. ADSL arrived in Turkey the same year I went to 8th grade. Before that, dial-up: you bought CDs for internet hours, paid extra phone charges, and the phone line was dead while you were online. One month we got a 300+ lira phone bill. Luckily my parents said nothing — until the next month came in at 200+ lira (turns out there was a cap).
People started asking me HTML questions through that site. So Bismillah, I started recording a tutorial video. But there was no YouTube upload — I used dosya.tc, uploaded the file there, then shared the link on my site.
As things changed and I became more familiar with YouTube, I got hooked on foreign channels. They posted tons of English-language videos. My English was almost nonexistent, so I just copied what they did, action by action. That’s how I learned Photoshop. I never followed a tutorial series — I learned in a chaotic, mixed way.
2026 Perspective — An 18-Year Journey
From 8th grade (2008) to today is 18 years. Tutorial series I’ve recorded and published:

Five Tips for Young Creators (2026)
- Quit chasing perfection. My first video was terrible. That’s the nature of this.
- Your first 50 videos will be bad. From video #51 onward you start understanding the craft.
- Don’t chase trends — produce real value. Photoshop videos I made 11 years ago still get views; trend videos die in days.
- Pick one niche. When I covered Photoshop + Cinema 4D + WordPress + YouTube on the same channel, no one knew what they were subscribing for.
- Build a community, don’t chase audiences. 1,000 loyal followers beat 100K fleeting viewers.
dosya.tc into history. But it lives on here as a memory.
