This lesson covers the technical steps and SEO considerations for publishing a post on Blogger. You’re not just hitting “Publish” — labels, title, permalink and preview all matter.
2026 note: Originally published in 2014. The editor has been modernised (rich-text + HTML mode both still available), but the publish flow is unchanged.
Pre-Publish Checklist
- Title: 50-60 chars including your target keyword.
- First paragraph: states the main idea and target keyword (Google often grabs it as a snippet).
- Labels: 3-7 relevant tags. Don’t overdo it — Blogger flags tag spam.
- Schedule: you can publish at a future date.
- Permalink: customize, prefer ASCII slugs.
- Search description (meta): 150-160 chars summary.
- Featured image: shows up in social shares.
Writing — Practical Tips
- Short paragraphs (3-4 lines) are easier to read.
- Use H2/H3 sub-headings — good for SEO and skimming.
- Pair text with relevant images and videos.
- Internal-link to your other posts — readers stay longer.
2026 Addition
Writing for Google Discover’s card-style feed matters now: a striking image, a memorable title, and real value in the first 200 words gives you Discover-eligibility.
