Thanks to Microsoft’s DreamSpark program for students, you can use some Microsoft products for free. The CD-key you receive is for lifetime use. To get a CD-key through DreamSpark, you either need to be a student yourself or know one. University students can register directly with their edu.tr-extension email addresses assigned to them and take advantage of this opportunity. If you’re a high school or elementary student, taking a photo of your school ID and uploading it during signup at the DreamSpark site is enough. This photo path also works for university students who don’t have an edu email yet.

The operating system you’ll download is called Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry Pro. Just to note: this version simply doesn’t ship with the unnecessary extras that come with the Metro interface.
