You Will Be Able to Pin Posts on Your Instagram Profile

Something like pinning a tweet on Twitter, pinning 3 videos to the top on TikTok, or the featured video on Youtube is now coming to Instagram. You will be able to pin any 3 posts you want to the top 3 spots on your profile.

Instagram post pinning

As you can see in the example, a user named Salman Memon came across a feature offered to users in the Beta program he’s in. In the image on the left, the option labeled “Pin to your profile” will let you pin the posts you choose to the very top of your profile.

We actually already use something similar in the stories section: we can set the stories we want as highlights, give them various names and present them to our followers. But this pin option will show the first 3 posts we want directly to anyone who looks at our profile, letting us introduce ourselves faster. Since reaching the highlights takes a few extra steps, engagement there is harder — so having eye-catching posts, or the ones we specifically want to show, appear the moment someone enters the profile will be more efficient in terms of engagement.

Instagram had actually started these changes back in January, but we’ve only recently begun to see them on the end-user side.

Besides this screenshot shared in January by app researcher Alessandro, he also shared that Instagram is working on an “Edit Grid” update that will let us rearrange all the content in our profile grid.

With these efforts, Instagram will make it possible for people to express themselves better and market themselves more comfortably. From what we understand, these features will arrive very soon. Until then, you can plan what you could do with them, prepare in advance for the future of the social media accounts you manage, and stay one step ahead of everyone when the updates land.
