(Background music for reading) And when that day came — actually, that day already came. Writing a blog is hard work, well, not very hard — once you sit down the words come alive in your head and you start writing. Two days ago, on the evening of Regaip Kandili, this post came to my mind at the mosque. The beginning of the three holy months — why shouldn’t it be a new beginning for me, I thought. Everyone has a beginning day. For one it’s starting a new job, for another marriage, for another the new year. For me it was this Regaip Kandili. “Why? What’s the reason?” you might ask — mosques are the place where I feel most at ease. How shall I explain it to you? I can’t, but there are places where people feel very comfortable, peaceful — well, mosques are like that for me.
The reason for that might be prayer. Stay for hours in a mosque, pray, no one will say “what are you doing.” Beyond that, tell everything to Allah — your troubles, your wishes, your thanks. Allah will not judge you and will give what is most beneficial and wholesome for you. I know mosques are places of worship; on the surface it’s a building, but what matters is what that place reminds me of and makes me feel. We’re human after all — some things we need to keep remembering and repeating, otherwise we forget and drift away. For instance prayer: yes, it’s a worship duty to Allah, but did you ever look at it this way — 5 times a day Allah is reminding you of Himself. What does that mean to you, have you ever thought? We remember some things, stay away from others, and remember the things we should do. There may be people who remember without prayer. That may be true, but this religion was not sent down for one person, it was sent to all of humanity. So can the religion be unique to one person? That’s what we call justice.
Now I’ve already gone over 250 words on the intro. Let me get back to the main point. Saying let’s make a new beginning, I created some bullet points for myself. Over the coming months I’ll try to fully bring these to life. Of course, I prepared a list and it consists of the items below. God willing, by the end of the three months they’ll all be a part of me. Like a shuttle going to space, they’ll accompany me until I leave the troposphere, and from then on, piece by piece, they’ll never leave my side on the road 🙂
These items are actually all a closed box: when I say sport, it’s running every day and striving for a healthy body; when I say worship, it’s regularly performing the obligatory prayers and making the sunnahs into habits; in the nutrition matter, not too much junk food but eating healthy foods and eating balanced; the “work” heading: do your work on time and in order, do the best you can, and try to enjoy what you do; finally, I didn’t list it below but — make people happy so you’ll be happy too 🙂
Until today, thank God, I’ve gone on with a hard-working nature inherited from my father.
